    Default Explain this...

Played a quick 18-seat, $15 SnG turbo on Pokerstars. One of the other players was a guy called Mantos40 - very amateurish, yet he was a 4-star "gold" player. I wondered how a 4-star player could be so poor, so I looked him up on sharkscope. Turns out he's played only 1,180 games, at an average stake of $1 ... which is nowhere near enough to earn a gold star rating on Pokerstars. What's going on? Any ideas?

Yeah, exactly. SS only covers SNGs and tournaments, which is normal. Most cash game tracking things are illegal because they're tracking individual hand histories. You occasionally get guys who are basically fish at MTTs but have VP status from cash game play, which is why it's still worth looking everyone up rather than assuming based on star status.
